A native of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Tom Brassell has been a member of the All Sports Association since 1997. He served as President in 2003 and is a two-time President’s Award Winner for service to the organization and the 2008 Col. Al Byrne Award Winner for volunteer service to the community's youth. He served as Chairman of the Hall of Fame Committee, serves on the Col. Al Byrne Award Committee and was one of the founding members of the Wuerffel Trophy’s Board of Directors. Tom has been the emcee of the All Sports Association Banquet, Buck Smith FCA Breakfast, Corporate Sponsors' Fish Fry and Past Presidents/Hall of Fame Induction Luncheon.
In 2013, Tom assumed the position of Executive Director of the Wuerffel Trophy, “College Football’s Premier Award for Community Service.” Since that time, through the combined efforts of the Danny Wuerffel and the Wuerffel Trophy’s Board of Directors, the award has achieved national status as a partner with the National Football Foundation, invited as a member in the National College Football Awards Association, and is a part of the ESPN/Home Depot College Football Award’s Red Carpet Show (prior to the Awards Show on ESPNU).
The Wuerffel Trophy is presented each year at the All Sports Association’s Awards Banquet. This year marks the 51st banquet hosted by the association and will be held on February 7, 2020, at the Emerald Coast Convention Center.
