August 1, 2019 – Nominations for 2019 Wuerffel Trophy Officially Open


October 15, 2019 – Deadline for Nominations


November 5, 2019  – Announcement of 2019 Wuerffel Trophy Semi-Finalists


November 25, 2019  – Announcement of the 2019 Wuerffel Trophy Finalists


December 10, 2019 – Formal Announcement of 2019 Wuerffel Trophy Recipient at the National Football Foundation’s Press Conference in New York, New York


December 12, 2019 – Recipient is guest of the ESPN Red Carpet Show and The Home Depot College Football Awards Show at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia.


February 7, 2020  – Presentation of 2019 Wuerffel Trophy at 51st Annual All Sports Association Trophy Awards Dinner, Fort Walton Beach, Florida. 


Why was the Wuerffel Trophy created?  We felt that there was a void in major college football awards. Mike Bianchi of the Orlando Sentinel put it best when he wrote, “The Wuerffel. It’s about time. There’s an award for the best quarterback, best running back, wide receiver, best linebacker, best center and even best kicker and punter. Why not one for the best human being?”
